Harvesting the extremely early maturing rice variety “Ichibanboshi”

The University of Tsukuba’s T-PIRC farm grew a rice variety “Ichibanboshi” for the first time this year (2021) and harvested it successfully on August 17. “Ichibanboshi” was bred by Ibaraki Prefecture for the southern part of the prefecture to grow and harvest earlier than other varieties,

The “Ichibanboshi” variety was bred by Ibaraki Prefecture by crossing of “Fusaotome” and “Aichi 101” over a long period of time. It is a rice that Ibaraki Prefecture is proud of, with a smooth texture and a gentle sweetness that makes you feel the grains in your mouth.

T-PIRC farm is planning to sell the harvested “Ichibanboshi” at Kasumi in University of Tsukuba and other locations in Tsukuba city. We will deliver the new rice about half a month earlier than usual. Please look forward to it.
