Distributed rice to support students

As part of the Japanese Culture Week held at Student Commons from Tuesday, January 17 to Friday, January 20, total approximately 1,500 kg of rice was distributed to University of Tsukuba students on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19.

The rice distribution was a collaborative effort among Department of Student Affairs, Office of Development, and T-PIRC to support our students. The rice distributed was Koshihikari grown by JICA participants during JICA Tsukuba Center’s FY2021 training program “Improvement of Rice Cultivation Techniques (B)” at T-PIRC field. Many students visited Student Commons, and the event ended with great success before noon on both days.

T-PIRC will continue to engage in educational and research partnerships with institutions outside of the university, as well as to support our students.
