At T-PIRC farm, we grow a variety of rice for educational and research purposes. Especially from this year, the paddy fields are looking even more beautiful than in previous years, as we have been growing a lot of foreign varieties for JICA training program. In addition, we are also trying direct sowing on well-drained paddy field, direct sowing in flooded paddy field, and direct sowing by drone in addition to conventional transplanting. We are also growing approximately 140 domestic and foreign rice varieties in consideration of the importance of genetic resources. Earlier varieties have been harvested. Meanwhile, “Ichibanboshi,” early variety in general paddy field, has already been harvested. We are planning to sell it at Kasumi, super market in University of Tsukuba and other locations in Tsukuba city again this year. We are also planning to sell “Niji no Kirameki” following “Ichibanboshi,” so please look forward to it.
