On October 21, 2022, 22 international students and five chaperones who were invited by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to study at universities nationwide visited T-PIRC.
JICA’s Agri-net Program students study abroad at universities around the Japan with the aim of developing human resources in developing countries in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and aim to obtain master’s and doctoral degrees.
At T-PIRC Farm, assistant professor Kato guided the participants to visit facilities such as greenhouses, orchards, paddy fields, etc., and actively asked questions about crop cultivation management. At the Center for Genetic Experiments, Sumita Research Coordinator gave an overview of gene genome editing technology, and a graduate student from Kenya who belongs to the center gave a talk about the social contribution and role of genome editing technology in developing countries such as Africa.
As T-PIRC, we will continue to make efforts to help those who are active in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries and plant biotechnology and international exchange.
